We use a very secure payment processing system called Stripe so your information is safe (Stripe is also used by Amazon, Lyft, Google, Spotify, Zillow, Yelp, OpenTable, Expedia, Kickstarter, Warby Parker, Slack, and many others). Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry.

Stripe has a small payment processing fee (2.9% + 30 cents), which is why your hourly charge may be slightly over $20/hour (likely $20.91). 100% of the hourly rate ($20/hr) goes to your tutor, and 100% of that processing fee is going to the payment processor Stripe, not GoPeer. Unfortunately, this is just how their payment processing system works. However, they are the leading payment infrastructure for the internet - Millions of companies of all sizes — from startups to Fortune 500s — use Stripe’s software to securely process payments.

Whenever you request a session, you should see the processing fee included in the total price before you book. We do this so that the fee doesn’t come as a surprise when you are actually billed. Here is what that will look like:
